Port Edward

This small town’s proximity to Durban gives it the feel of being an extension of the KZN South Coast but, being just on the Eastern Cape side of the River, it is actually the northern extremity of the Wild Coast. At the mouth of the Umtamvuna River, it is best known for its excellent golf course and a local casino resort. More interesting, though, is the fact that it is the northern extremity of the Wild Coast, which is a great hiking and horse trail destination, with many community-run projects.

Port Edward is about 170km south of Durban. Take note: Port Edward is not on the N2, and the roads here are a bit confusing, so make sure you know the route if you are driving here – especially at night as it is very easy to get lost.
